The Dallas Mavericks honored Dirk Nowitzki last season by retiring his number 41 jersey. It was an unbelievable and unforgettable night where the Mavericks paid tribute to their GOAT that was capped by Dirk addressing his supporters with his usual brand of intellect and humor.
Nowitzki is back with the only NBA organization he ever called home as a special advisor to owner Mark Cuban. He has an office inside the newly renovated practice facility, and Dirk makes his own schedule. The legend was on-hand in the playoffs as the Mavericks reached the conference finals for just the fifth time in franchise history.
Cuban unveiled a rendering of Dirk’s statue that will be built outside the American Airlines Center during his jersey retirement, and fans have been wondering when it will be displayed. The billionaire let fans in on when to expect it in a recent interview.

Nowitzki is set to have his German National Team jersey retired on Sept. 1 as his country takes on France in EuroBasket. The Tall Baller from the G is an ambassador for the European championships, so fans can expect him to be on hand for multiple Slovenian National Team games as he watches his friend Luka Doncic try to help his country repeat as champions.
