Takeaway from Dallas Mavericks win over Suns: 1. Luka leads blowout

Luka Doncic led Dallas to a dominant Game 7 win over the Suns in last season’s Western Conference semifinals, and he repeated the feat on Dec. 6. The 23-year-old superstar looked unstoppable from the opening tipoff, and he was competing hard on the defensive end too.

Doncic went deep into his bag of tricks on Tuesday night. He was hunting mismatches and making the Suns pay at nearly every turn as the Mavericks got a bit of revenge from their opening night loss in Phoenix. See Luka drilling his stepback over Deandre Ayton below.

Doncic finished with 33 points, six rebounds, eight assists, one steal, and two blocks in 29 minutes of action. It was just the third time this year that Luka played fewer than 30 minutes in a game this season, and the Mavs outscored the Suns by 20 when he was on the floor. Number 77 was 12 of 20 from the field, including hitting four 3-pointers, and he did not play one second in the fourth quarter.

Luka Doncic and the Mavericks made it two straight blowouts after dominating the Knicks on Saturday afternoon. It was an impressive performance that should be encouraging for MFFLs, but things won’t be easy in their next game.

The Dallas Mavericks have zero time to rest as they travel to Denver to face the Nuggets on Tuesday night. It is always tough to play in the Mile High City, and even more difficult on the second night of a back-to-back. Can the Mavs win their third straight game on Dec. 6? Tune in to find out.
