Takeaway from Dallas Mavericks win over Knicks: 1. Luka drops 30 at MSG
It was a bit of a slow start for Luka Doncic on Saturday afternoon. He drilled a halfcourt shot at the close of the first quarter that was just a split second too late to leave number 77 with just seven points after 12 minutes. He had 11 first-half points before catching fire in the third.
Doncic had 19 third-quarter points, including hitting three 3-pointers. He was not going to let his team lose to Jalen Brunson and the Knicks on Dec. 3, so Luka locked in and put on a show.
Number 77 did not return in the fourth quarter as he finished with 30 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and three blocks in 29 minutes. Doncic made 11 of his 21 field goals, and he was a perfect four of four from the foul line.
Luka Doncic kept up his MVP numbers, and it resulted in a blowout victory on Dec. 3 to move the Mavs to 11-11 on the season. It was just their second road win of the season and a much-needed one at that.
The Dallas Mavericks return home to face the Phoenix Suns on the first night of a back-to-back set on Monday. Luka Doncic and company have struggled against the Suns in the regular season the last few years, including losing a heartbreaker on opening night. Will Dallas flip the script on Dec. 5? Tune in to find out.
