Takeaway from Dallas Mavericks win over Magic: 1. Luka makes history

Luka Doncic was on one from the opening tipoff on Sunday night. He showed up at the arena early, and the 23-year-old superstar had his sixth straight 30-point game by halftime. The Magic were not doubling in the first half, so Doncic feasted. He made eight of his 12 field goals, including making seven of his eight two-point shots in the first 24 minutes. See one of his easy buckets from the first half below.

It was his fourth career 30-point half from Luka, and he was far from done on Sunday night in front of the home crowd. He finished with 44 points, five assists, three rebounds, and one steal in 37 minutes of action. Number 77 made 17 of his 26 field goals, but for the first time struggled from the foul line making just eight of 14.

Doncic became the first player since Michael Jordan in 1986-1987 to score 30-plus in each of his team’s first six games of the season. He is on pace for a historic year, and fans should be excited to see what the 23-year-old can do next.
