Takeaway as Dallas Mavericks dominate Grizzlies in home opener: 1. Luka dominates
For the second straight game, Luka Doncic got off to a hot start, and he produce the first 20-point quarter of the season in the Mavs home opener. Number 77 was getting anywhere he wanted on the floor and making Memphis pay for every mismatch.
Luka had 21 points in the first 12 minutes, and he pushed his team out to a 12-point advantage as he headed to the bench for the first time. The 23-year-old superstar set the tone in the opening minutes on Saturday night, and the Mavericks never looked back.
Dallas only needed 30 minutes of Luka in the dominant victory. He did not play in the fourth quarter and still finished with 32 points, ten assists, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. He was 12 of 23 from the field, including making four 3-pointers. It was Doncic’s first double-double of the season and his second 30-point game.
Luka Doncic is stating his MVP case early and often to start the 2022-23 regular season. The 23-year-old superstar has been unstoppable so far, and he is just getting started. No team is looking forward to facing the Dallas Mavericks right now, and the best is still yet to come.
