Co-star Dallas Mavericks should target to pair with Luka Doncic: 5. Rudy Gobert

The Mavs' biggest weakness is their starting center. After the Kristaps Porzingis trade, Dallas struggled to rebound, protect the rim, and control the paint. They are also searching for a pick and roll partner for Luka Doncic.

Rudy Gobert is the near-perfect fit in every area. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year led the league in rebounding this season, and he has averaged over two blocks per game for eight straight years. Gobert is the best screener in the league, and his 6.3 screen assists per game led the NBA.

Luka Doncic and the 7’1 big man would form a deadly pick and roll duo with Gobert dominating the paint on the other end of the floor.

There are drawbacks to acquiring the 29-year-old big man. Gobert has four years left on his deal and $169.7 million. It would be a massive price to pay, and there are some questions about how effective he is in the playoffs as teams go small and try to spread the floor.

Those aspects could make Rudy Gobert underrated in the trade market, and the Utah Jazz could shake up their roster after a disappointing season that saw them knocked out in the first round of the playoffs for the third time in the last four years. Rumors suggest the Mavericks interest in Gobert has cooled, but he would be a fantastic fit next to Luka Doncic.
