The Dallas Mavericks took a massive step forward this season as they won their first playoff series since 2011 and reached the Western Conference Finals for just the fifth time in franchise history. Superstar Luka Doncic made his case for best player in the NBA, but the organization knows they must improve his supporting cast if they want to win another championship.

Marc Stein reported the Mavs are targeting (subscription required) another All-Star player to pair with Luka. It makes sense as Dallas was the only one of the final four teams that had just one All-Star on their roster. The Mavericks will be searching for upgrades this offseason, and they want another big name to pair with Luka.

Soon-to-be free agent Zach LaVine is rumored to a be target, but his questionable defensive fit and injury history make acquiring him risky. There will be other significant names available that would complement Luka Doncic better.

Every team would love to acquire Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Kevin Durant, but those players are not going to be available this offseason. With the lack of cap space available league-wide, expect some big names and former All-Stars to hit the trade block, and the Mavericks should look to capitalize.

Damian Lillard, Jerami Grant, and Tobias Harris are all potential targets that could be available this summer that did not make the cut. Remember the Dallas Mavericks are searching for fit above everything else, and here are five co-stars they should target to pair with Luka Doncic.
