Should the Dallas Mavericks be looking to make a trade already?

No, they should not, especially since the team has limited assets to deal. The Mavs need to use their resources to plug a hole and maximize their odds of winning in the playoffs. They do not yet know what specifically they need. Christian Wood looked fantastic in his first game as a Maverick, but will that continue? Can he improve his defense enough to stay on the floor in crunch time?

The Mavs face multiple questions right now. Can Tim Hardaway Jr. bounce back after his foot surgery? Does Josh Green have a third-year breakout? Can Spencer Dinwiddie keep producing monster numbers? Does Dallas have enough playmaking on their roster?

The Mavericks should be attempting to identify issues with their roster before making a knee-jerk trade now. Luka Doncic gives them a chance to win every game, and the front office should be looking to maximize his supporting cast this season and beyond.

Head coach Jason Kidd is still experimenting with lineups and rotations. The Dallas Mavericks' needs will become clear by Christmas, and the front office should be watching closely as the team figures things out.
