Free-agent the Dallas Mavericks should sign after day 1: 3. Bruce Brown

***UPDATE- Brown agreed to a two-year $13 million deal with the Nuggets, per Malika Andrews.

The Nets dominated the headlines on June 30 after Kevin Durant requested a trade, but it did not stop Brooklyn from making moves. They traded for Royce O’Neale and re-signed Nicolas Claxton and Patty Mills. Brown figures to draw plenty of interest across the NBA, and he will have an important decision to make.

The 25-year-old averaged 9.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals in 24.6 minutes per game for the Nets last season. His jumper is improving, but it is the 6’4 wing's defense that stands out. He can guard multiple positions and is disruptive on the ball.

Brown saw his playing time increase to 38.4 minutes per game in the playoffs as the Nets looked for someone to slow down Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. He responded by averaging 14.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 56.8 percent from the field and 42.9 percent on his threes.

The Portland Trail Blazer reportedly made a strong offer to Bruce Brown after signing Gary Payton II away from the defending champion Warriors. They are clearly looking to improve their defense around Damian Lillard, but Brown would be a fantastic fit in Dallas.
