Free-agent the Dallas Mavericks should sign after day 1: 4. Donte DiVincenzo
***UPDATE- DiVincenzo agreed to a two-year deal with the Warriors, according to Shams Charania.
The Kings refused to tender DiVincenzo a qualifying offer, so he is an unrestricted free agent. The 25-year-old was a starter for the Bucks on their 2021 championship team before tearing a ligament in his ankle that forced him to miss all but three postseason games. Milwaukee traded him to Sacramento at the deadline where he averaged 10.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.5 steals in 26.6 minutes per game.
The 6’4 wing is a strong perimeter defender that can guard multiple positions. DiVincenzo ranked 76th in FiveThirtyEight’s defensive RAPTOR last season after adjusting down to just 993 or more minutes played.
He rebounds well, can make plays, and continues improving his jumper. DiVincenzo is not the most efficient scorer, but Dallas needs another wing defender that can spell Dorian Finney-Smith and Reggie Bullock in the playoffs.
Donte DiVincenzo did not find a home on the opening night of free agency, but he figures to draw plenty of interest from teams. The Dallas Mavericks would have to create some more space to be able to land the 6’4 wing, but he is an intriguing target that would help the team succeed.
