The Dallas Mavericks traded four players and the 26th overall pick in the 2022 draft to the Rockets for Christian Wood. They needed an upgrade at the five to solve their postseason rebounding woes. Wood is a dynamic offensive force and the trade gives Dallas three open roster spots to make further upgrades.

The Mavericks do not have a selection in the 2022 draft. They dealt their second-rounder to Washington in the Kristaps Porzingis trade. Dallas needs to fill a summer league roster to compete in Las Vegas and to round out their 15-man roster after free agency opens on June 30.

The Mavs are hosting a free-agent mini-camp this week. According to JD Shaw, more than 30 players are set to attend. Here is a look at a few of the players in attendance.

Veteran wing Tyreke Evans will take part in the mini-camp. The 2010 Rookie of the Year was not played in the NBA since 2019. He was suspended for nearly three seasons after violating the drug policy, but the 32-year-old is looking to make a comeback after being reinstated in March.

2020 NBA champion Dion Waiters will also take part in the camp. The 30-year-old was a steady role player for four different teams, but he has not played in the league since the bubble.

Langston Galloway, Jalen Lecque, and many others looking for another NBA chance will be in attendance at the Mavericks mini-camp. Some of the players will be signed to play on the Mavericks' summer league roster. Wowing during the mini-camp and in Las Vegas could earn them a training camp invite or a place on a 15-man roster around the league.

The Dallas Mavericks opened up some room by trading Christian Wood, but they will likely fill those spots quickly with veterans looking to go on a deep playoff run. Goran Dragic is a rumored target, and others will emerge as free agency draws closer.
