Can the Dallas Mavericks capitalize on the next superstar trade request?
The next superstar trade request is likely to come at this season’s trade deadline, and the Mavs won’t be ready to handle it quite yet. They need to wait until after the 2023 draft, so all of their first-round picks are available for trade. It will open the door for the Mavericks to make a competitive offer, but they need the star player to want to come to Dallas.
Draymond Green just praised Luka and called him his “favorite player to watch”, and LeBron James is one of the biggest backers of Doncic in the NBA. Both players could be on the move next summer, and each would have some interest in teaming up with number 77.
Getting involved in a blockbuster trade takes some skill and some luck. The best offer does not always get the player. Look at James Harden going to the Nets before ultimately landing in Philadelphia. Often the player has the say in their destination, so the Mavericks' decision-makers must keep improving the optics of landing in Dallas to play with Luka Doncic.
The Dallas Mavericks will be searching for a star player on the trade market next summer. Will they land one? Stay tuned to find out.
