Buy or sell on 3 Dallas Mavericks trends: 1. Luka will win MVP

Luka Doncic looks unstoppable in the early going as he continues to build on his impressive resume. The 23-year-old superstar is leading the league in scoring while shooting 52.7 percent from the field and getting to the line 11.6 times per game. Doncic is getting into the paint and shooting 66.7 percent on his 2-point shots in the early going.

Luka has scored 30-plus points in each of the team’s first eight games, and he is just the second player in NBA history to accomplish that feat. The Mavericks superstar has swiped 1.9 steals to go with his 8.8 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game to open the season.

Doncic was the favorite to win MVP at the start of the season, and his play has done nothing to change that. Giannis Antetokounmpo edged him in the NBA’s first MVP ladder because the Bucks are undefeated, but number 77 is in the thick of the race after his blazing start to the season.

VERDICT: Buy

This is going to be a special season from an all-time great player. Luka Doncic entered the year in midseason form after EuroBasket, and there is no stopping him. Expect the 23-year-old to average over 30 points per game, while being top 20 in rebounds and assists as he helps the Mavs grab a top-four seed in the Western Conference for the second straight year.
