2019 NBA Draft: Terance Mann over Isaiah Roby with the 45th pick

Back to players actually selected in the draft, we move on to the 2019 NBA Draft, where the Dallas Mavericks had the 45th pick in the draft. With that selection, they picked up Isaiah Roby.

Roby never even suited up for the Mavericks, as he was sent to the G League for his entire tenure in Dallas. He ended up getting traded in his rookie season, as the Mavericks shipped him to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Unfortunately for the Mavericks, there were some quality players who they could have selected instead of Roby at that spot. Among them are Talen Horton-Tucker (pick 46) and Jalen McDaniels (pick 52).

Instead, the Mavericks will be selecting Terance Mann for their hypothetical dream team, as the 6-foot-5 combo guard has had plenty of success with the LA Clippers.

Over the past two seasons, Mann has emerged as a crucial part of the Clippers’ rotation, giving them quality minutes with and without Paul George and Kawhi Leonard healthy.

His three-point stroke was a work in progress early on, but it’s seemingly developed into a reliable part of his game. On top of that, his ball-handling and defense make him a valuable commodity.

He wouldn’t get a ton of minutes on this dream team, but he’s a great piece to have.
