The Dallas Mavericks traded their 2022 first-round pick and four players that were outside their playoff rotation to acquire Christian Wood from the Houston Rockets. The 6’10 big man gives the team another high-level scorer and rebounder, and he has played well next to Luka Doncic so far.

Fans have been frustrated with C-Wood coming off the bench and playing over 30 minutes in just two of his first 15 games with the Mavs, but things may have shifted on Wednesday night in Boston. Dallas was blown out by the Celtics, but they made a second-half run with Doncic and Wood leading their charge. C-Wood played a season-high 34 minutes and had a 26-point double-double.

Was that enough to earn Wood more playing time? Head coach Jason Kidd noted everything is under consideration, but the 6’10 big man is happy to be on a winning team and playing for the Mavericks. See what he had to say below.

Wood was asked whether he believes he should start after Wednesday’s game, and fans can see the big man’s response below.

"I think I'm going to just keep that personal opinion to myself, but what I can say is I'm enjoying my time here. I love playing for Dallas. These guys, they support me. they pick me up when I have bad games. Things are going great, especially in Dallas."

Wood also talked about his new endorsement deal with Adidas, and how much he is enjoying his time in Dallas. Fans can hear his response below.

Christian Wood deserves more playing time. He is not a lockdown defender, but the 27-year-old creates matchup problems on the offensive end of the floor. C-Wood can be the roller, space the floor, or post-up a mismatch. He just flat-out gets buckets, and the Mavericks need more talent around Luka Doncic if they want to make another deep playoff run.

Will Wood play more moving forward? Expect his minutes to be up and down as head coach Jason Kidd experiments with rotations and looks around Luka Doncic. Ultimately, Christian Wood is a key to the team’s success, and they need him to be a mismatch issue. Stay tuned to see how it plays out.
