Cam Whitmore 2023 NBA Draft profile: Does wing fit next to Luka Doncic?
By Noah Weber
Cam Whitmore's fit on the Dallas Mavericks
Cam Whitmore would be a phenomenal fit in Dallas. He would give the Mavericks immediate depth at the wing position, and they would add versatility on both ends of the floor. He could go score when they need him to while also having the assignment of guarding the other team's best player.
He has superstar potential, and if Whitmore is available at the tenth overall pick, the Mavericks should consider him. The 6'7 wing would be a steal at that point in the lottery, and he could immdiately impact the team.
Having a young core of Whitmore, Jaden Hardy, Josh Green, and Luka Doncic would be a fantastic start. Extending Kyrie Irving and adding Whitmore into that mix would be even better. Whitmore could polish his playmaking with the help of Doncic and Irving, while not having too big of a role in the offense too quickly.
This type of pick would be a no-brainer for Dallas. Whitmore's unique playstyle would fit perfectly next to Doncic and Irving as he plays solid defense, runs the floor, and can knock down threes when left open. This pick would also allow Dallas to focus their cap space this summer on a rim protector without having to worry about signing another high-level wing.
Stay tuned to see if Cam Whitmore will be playing alongside Luka Doncic on the Dallas Mavericks next season.
