Best NBA prop bets today for Timberwolves vs. Mavericks (Time to bet Dante Exum?)
By Peter Dewey
The Dallas Mavericks are looking to win another game without Kyrie Irving, but they’ll have to beat the No. 1 team in the Western Conference – the Minnesota Timberwolves – on Thursday night.
This matchup should be a good one, and there are plenty of player props to consider betting on to increase the action in the game.
I have three players that I’m targeting, including two Mavericks, on Thursday night.

Timberwolves vs. Mavericks best NBA prop bets
- Dante Exum OVER 13.5 points
- Dereck Lively II OVER 7.5 rebounds
- Rudy Gobert OVER 26.5 points and rebounds
Dante Exum OVER 13.5 points
Dante Exum’s career resurgence is for real.
With Kyrie Irving out, the Mavericks guard has been inserted into the starting lineup and is thriving the last few games, putting up 23, 16 and 26 points. He has also shot the 3-ball well, going 10-for-15 from deep over that stretch.
Exum should be in line for major minutes again on Thursday, and he’s played at least 33 in each of the last three games. I’ll take a shot on him – even against an elite Minnesota defense.
Dereck Lively II OVER 7.5 rebounds
Rookie big man Dereck Lively II has been great for Dallas, averaging 9.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season.
Lively has at least eight rebounds in 12 of his 21 games, and he’s really come on as of late, grabbing eight, 16, nine, four and 16 rebounds over his last five games.
He may not get double-digit boards against Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns, but 7.5 seems rather low when someone has to hit the glass for Dallas. I expect Lively to play a big role against a Wolves team with a lot of size down low.
Rudy Gobert OVER 26.5 points and rebounds
This is a dream matchup for Rudy Gobert, who is quietly putting together a really strong season for Minnesota.
Gobert is averaging 13.3 points and 12.2 rebounds per game, and now he gets to take on a Dallas team that ranks 26th in the NBA in points in the paint allowed per game (53.4) and 28th in rebounding percentage (47.7 percent).
Gobert has cleared 26.5 points and rebounds in five of his last six games, which is notable since he’s only done it five other times all season long.
Over that stretch, Gobert has two 20-rebound games, which almost guarantees that he’ll clear this number. I think he’s worth a shot in this prop against a Dallas team that lacks bigs after Lively.
