Best NBA prop bets today for Mavericks vs. Grizzlies (Bet on this Mavs rookie)

Dereck Lively II and Kyrie Irving are both great prop targets on Monday night. Find out why -- and who else to bet -- below.

The Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies face off in a Western Conference showdown on Monday night.

This should be an interesting game, as Dallas is favored on the road with Ja Morant (suspension) inactive for Memphis. There are a few ways to bet on this game, but the player prop market may be my favorite.

The Mavs have a couple of players to target, including one rookie and star guard Kyrie Irving. There is also a prop for Memphis that even Mavs fans should consider wagering on.

Let’s break down the picks for this Monday night matchup:

Mavericks vs. Grizzlies best NBA prop bets today

  • Dereck Lively II OVER 7.5 Points
  • Kyrie Irving OVER 5.5 Assists
  • Jaren Jackson Jr. OVER 1.5 Blocks

Dereck Lively II OVER 7.5 Points

Rookie big man Dereck Lively II has been great for Dallas to start this season, scoring 25 points in two games while shooting an impressive 11-for-12 from the field.

Lively II had nine points in his last game on just four shots in 17 minutes, and I think he could have a similar showing in this game.

The Mavericks could use him more against the Grizzlies than they did the Brooklyn Nets (Nic Claxton was out for the Nets) since the Grizz have big men like Jaren Jackson Jr., Xavier Tillman, and others that will play down low.

Lively played 31 minutes in the team’s season opener, and he scored 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting. This number is low enough to back the OVER again on Monday.

Kyrie Irving OVER 5.5 Assists

In 20 games with Dallas last season, Irving averaged 6.0 assists per game, and he’s picked up six dimes exactly in each of his first two games this season.

Yet, this prop is still set at plus money for Kyrie to go OVER.

I think it’s worth a shot, as he may draw the Marcus Smart matchup in this game which may make it tougher for him to score the ball. Instead, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Irving set up his teammates, something he’s done well so far this season.

Jaren Jackson Jr. OVER 1.5 Blocks

If we’re going to bet on a Grizzlies player in this game, Jackson Jr. is the way to go.

The league’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year is an elite shot blocker, posting five, three, and one block in his first three games this season.

The crazy part? Jackson has blocked a ton more shots at home than on the road dating back to last season.

In 33 home games in the 2022-23 campaign, JJJ had 118 blocks. In 30 road games, he recorded just 71. This season, the trend has continued.

Jackson has eight blocks across his two home games, but he had just one on the road against the Washington Wizards. I think with Memphis back at home for this matchup he’s a great bet to pick up at least two blocks against the Mavericks.
