The Dallas Mavericks were one of the worst shooting teams in the league last season. They ranked in the bottom five in multiple 3-point shooting categories, including attempted 3-pointers and made 3-point shots. It's an issue Dallas had no solution for, as Cooper Flagg lacked a teammate who could alleviate pressure whenever he is double-teamed and knock down open attempts.

The Mavs, though, just brought in a possible future solution. Dallas signed former Florida State guard Darin Green Jr. to a Summer League contract. He is a sharpshooting undrafted free-agent prize that was signed Thursday morning, a day after the NBA Draft concluded. Now, while some may consider this a promising pickup after seeing his shooting numbers, Green Jr. will have to play extremely well in the Summer League to get a training camp invite.

Green Jr. was an elite shooter at Florida State, and he continued this playing overseas. Mavs will get a glimpse of his hot shooting once the Summer League begins.

Darin Green Jr.'s shooting is elite

Newly signed Summer League player Darin Green Jr. could be the perfect 3-point marksman to fix the list of woes mentioned. His experience and past numbers can iron out some of the headaches Dallas dealt with if he plays extremely well in the summer and gets a training camp invite.

The 6-foot-5 guard played two seasons at Florida State University before taking his talents overseas. He shot well during his final season at FSU, making 40.6 percent of his field goal attempts and 38 percent of his 3-pointers.

The sharpshooter, an undrafted free agent, played for the SPD Radnicki earlier this season. He played in 15 games for the Serbian team, making 49.3 percent of his 3-point shots. It was a testament to his ability to take over games and help space out offenses.

Two weeks ago, he scored 21 points for the Hapoel Holon team in Israel. One thing that stood out was his shooting, where he converted 63.6 percent on his long-range attempts and 58.3 percent of his overall shots. Simply, his hot shooting proves just how valuable a steal he was, even after the draft ended.

Dallas begins to plan their Summer League roster

Darin Green Jr. was one of the first players guaranteed to play in the Dallas Mavericks Summer League. His hot shooting will be a huge commodity to watch in the summer, as he tries to earn a training camp invite.

Now, you can't forget the newly drafted rookies. They, too, are expected to get some playing in the summer. Their development will be crucial for Dallas, especially since they'll play a role in the Mavs' rebuild.

It's also possible that some past Summer League participants, such as Ryan Nembhard and Moussa Cisse, will join the roster, assuming they don't get picked up in free agency. Dallas could use the summer to help them develop if they are brought back.

Mavs fans have plenty of things to be excited about, considering the Summer League will have plenty of fun stories. Until then, Dallas made a sneaky great move by bringing one of the top undrafted shooters in Green Jr.
