Luka Doncic's rumored mindset about Mavericks is every fan's worst nightmare

The Luka Doncic trade is finally starting to sink in for Dallas Mavericks fans, but even after a few weeks of gathering their feelings about this move, nothing will be able to prepare them for tonight's game at 9 PM CT.

The Mavericks face off against Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers for the first time since the shocking blockbuster trade on February 1 this evening, and fans are expecting an absolute dogfight from both sides. While the Mavericks will be trying to get back on track after a rough showing on Sunday afternoon against the Golden State Warriors, Doncic will be out for revenge.

Doncic always uses things said against him from motivation, as Mavericks fans know it was always game over for the other team when an opposing fan was talking trash, and entering tonight's game against the Mavs, Doncic is going to have plenty of motivation before the game even starts due to all of the leaks from the organization about him.

The Mavericks took issue with Doncic's conditioning, arguing with referees, lack of leadership, and work ethic, and he has taken all of these things to heart over the last few weeks.

While Doncic kept quiet when asked about the Mavericks trading him in his introductory press conference and took "the high road," it sounds like all of the leaks about Doncic's conditioning and weight have instilled a rage inside of him that fans will get to witness tonight.

Over the All-Star break, Doncic took a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and while this trip was used to get his mind off basketball for a few days, it was also used as a time for him to ramp up his activity and lock in for the final stretch of the season. Doncic spent two hours per day training on an outdoor court with Lakers assistant coach Scott Brooks, and on top of the rigorous on-court work, Doncic also spent time lifting weights at his hotel.

According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, the leaks about Doncic over the last few weeks have "served as a motivator," according to one source close to Doncic, and "a beast was awakened inside him."

Doncic never forgets things like this, and we could see Doncic get in the best shape of his life moving forward and use all of the comments against him over the last few weeks as extra juice to dominate tonight and for the rest of the season.

He is the most unstoppable player in the NBA when he has some sort of outside factor, like trash talk, motivating him, and all of the information coming from Dallas after the trade was the biggest slap in the face to him after his six-and-a-half seasons spent with the organization. Rather than praising everything Doncic did for them, they kicked him on his way out the door, and this seems to have not only hurt Mavs fans, but it had to have hurt Doncic as well.

He was crushed about the trade, as he was clearly in a state of shock early on, and tonight's game will likely be the final straw for many Mavs fans and Doncic as accepting this trade to be a reality. All eyes will be on Doncic as he takes on his former team tonight, and the entire game will be something that NBA fans won't want to miss.
