The Dallas Mavericks are on the cusp of making their regular season return against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night. Not only did the team get a much-needed week-long break, but Dallas signed big man Moses Brown to a 10-day contract, which is a positive sign that some of their other centers could be making a return to the hardwood soon.

Brown may not be the answer fans are looking for as the Mavs battle critical injuries to centers, but his presence will bring much-needed size on both ends of the floor.

With the team back in action on the practice floor, the media could finally ask questions and get updates on the status of multiple Maverick players. One name in the spotlight over the last few weeks has been Anthony Davis after he shockingly reinjured himself in his Dallas debut.

Davis was originally slotted to miss up to a month with an adductor strain, but Jason Kidd hinted at a possible date that the seven-footer could be reevaluated, which will make or break the Mavericks season.

Davis, Lively II, and Gafford's reevaluation will determine Mavs' fate

In a recent media availability, Kidd told the press that March 6 will be the date the team reevaluates multiple centers on the injury list. The list will include Davis along with Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford, who both happened to suffer gruesome injuries over the last month or so.

March 6 is not only an important date because fans and the team will finally get an in-depth look at the timetable for the three big men who could be back, but fans may finally know if Davis' injury will require surgery that would likely end his season

Obviously, Davis missing the remainder of the year would be a huge blow to the Mavericks' playoff efforts, as they are currently in the hunt to make it out of the play-in race. Despite this, Kidd reassured media members that Davis was looking great in his workout in the weight room and when shooting the ball at practice.

Seeing Davis working out and taking shots so early into the rehab process is still a great sign for fans hoping the former champion avoids surgery. While the Mavericks desperately need Davis on the floor with Kyrie Irving playing heavy minutes, this is an injury the team cannot rush if they wish to see him back in action.

It's unclear if Davis will miss more time after his March 6 reevaluation date, but this is much-needed progress for fans wishing to hear something positive.

In addition to finding out Davis' status for the future, the Mavericks will also get a clear understanding of Gafford and Lively II's lower body injuries. The two bigs will likely not be back before the March 6 reevaluation date, but the team will get a better understanding of where their statuses lie for the future. March 6 will likely make or break Dallas' season depending on what we hear, and this day can't come soon enough as every game matters in the West.

There is no doubt the Mavs need one of Davis, Gafford, or Lively II on the floor healthy if they wish to have a legitimate shot at making noise over the next month. Without their three centers, Dallas will likely rely on P.J. Washington, Kessler Edwards, and Dwight Powell to take the bulk of the starting center minutes.
