The Dallas Mavericks' decision to trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers continues to dominate NBA news, and there are no signs of this nonstop chatter slowing down as the Los Angeles Lakers could end up being a true contender if fully healthy while the Mavericks are sliding in the standings.

The Mavericks are now 2-9 in their last 11 games, and things keep getting worse. Mavs fans can only imagine where the team would be if Doncic was still on the roster, and fans' anger with Nico Harrison and the front office hasn't ever been higher.

This is an unforeseen time in the NBA, as we have never seen a fan base this angry with an organization, and the front office keeps making it worse on themselves by coming out and saying different things since the trade. While Harrison hasn't spoken to media since the day after the trade, Patrick Dumont has been under fire recently, as he alluded to Doncic not being a hard worker and doesn't seem to understand the true magnitude of this trade.

Harrison seems to feel the exact same way, as he doubted Doncic's diet, off-court habits, leadership, conditioning, and health. The Mavericks' doubts about Doncic's conditioning were reported within minutes of the trade going down, and it seems like it was one of the biggest reasons they gave up on him. While Doncic definitely struggled with his conditioning at different points of his career, this part of the trade seems to have been completely overblown as it never seemed like these concerns would lead the Mavericks all the way to trading him.

Green exposes the truth about Doncic's conditioning and leadership

Doncic has had several former teammates speak up about his work ethic, including Quentin Grimes who said he was always in the gym late at night during their time as teammates, and Josh Green also recently spoke about Doncic in a positive light.

In an exclusive interview with The Sporting News' Stephen Noh, Green detailed his opinions about Doncic's conditioning concerns, and his opinion echoed exactly how Mavericks fans feel.

"At the end of the day, he’s played World Cups, he’s played Olympics, back-to-back-to-back years," Green said. "You have to be in pretty good shape to be able to play that."

Green's take on all of this hits the nail on the head. Doncic was playing year-round with little to no rest, and he still dominated the NBA. He led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011 despite the front office feeling this way about him, and his improvement as a leader is also an area in which Green's beliefs differ from the Mavericks'.

"I think for someone to be 24 years old and be able to take a team to the Finals, it’s impressive," Green said. "The last two years, he took a big leap being a leader. The guys really followed that."

Doncic's growth as a leader was evident over the last few years, and playing next to Kyrie Irving allowed him to step up in that way. Irving and Doncic shared a special bond on and off the floor, and even Irving has come out and said that the negative public comments about Doncic being leaked from the Mavericks needed to be tempered back.

As more time goes on, Dallas looks worse and worse for making this trade, and Doncic's teammates backing him up about some of the main reasons that Harrison wanted to make this move makes his decision to trade the generational superstar look even more foolish.
