On Tuesday night, the Dallas Mavericks extended their win streak to three games in a row by beating the New Orleans Pelicans 132-91 in the team's second NBA Cup group stage game.

To start the season, the Mavericks have struggled to close out games, which resulted in four straight clutch losses at one point this year. The Mavericks' slow starts and clutch time woes contributed to the team's terrible start to the year.

One way the Mavericks have bounced back from their sloppy start is by shooting the 3-ball well at the beginning of games. In the Mavs' last three games, the team has gotten off to a hot start from behind the arc, which has resulted in three straight wins.

Multiple players have benefited from the team's impressive 3-point shooting but Kyrie Irving has led the charge in three-point makes since the start of the year.

Irving's elite shooting powers his All-Star case

It's no secret that Irving has started the year off very hot with multiple incredible performances. Irving's hot start has given the Mavs a jolt of energy even when things looked dim following the team's four-game losing streak.

At times this season, fans have even asked themselves if Irving is the true No. 1 option on this Mavericks squad with fellow superstar Luka Doncic struggling to find his footing.

While Irving has been the better of the two superstars this season, his 3-point shooting has been miles ahead of any other player on Dallas' squad. After shooting 4-5 from deep in the Mavericks' blowout win against the Pelicans, Irving's three-point percentage jumped to 54 percent on the season.

After the game against New Orleans, Jason Kidd admitted that Irving's 3-point shooting can sometimes get "lost" due to his expertise in other areas, and he said that Irving "might be the only one shooting the three at a decent clip."

Irving's three is certainly a part of his game that has fallen under the radar some, but his continued consistency in this area will put the league on notice and keep him on All-Star watch. He is making a great point to be an All-Star this year, and a large reason for this can be his knockdown 3-point shooting.

At one point during Tuesday night's blowout win, Irving drained in back-to-back transition threes, which gave the Mavericks a 20-point cushion that held up for the remainder of the game.

While the Mavericks are only 15 games into the season, Irving's shot hasn't slowed down. Irving has an uncanny ability to make pull-up threes in transition, which he has used to build on this impressive start to the year.

Irving has averaged just shy of 25 points per game this year, which has him at 13th in the league in points per game. Irving's hot start from three also has him fifth in the league in total 3-point makes.

Despite the All-Star Game being in mid-February, Irving has already gotten some early consideration from fans around the league due to his unworldly shooting. Irving's ability to keep the Mavs afloat this season on top of his scorching start from behind the arc has given him a legitimate argument at making his ninth All-Star appearance.

Irving will no doubt be one of the Mavericks' most important players for the remainder of the season and assuming he can stay healthy and continue on this track of impressive shooting, Irving's name will be amongst the few in consideration for the All-Star game.
