Mavericks finally reveal their best City Edition jerseys yet with a twist
By Jaren Boslow
After a gut-wrenching 120-117 loss on Tuesday night to the Golden State Warriors in Klay Thompson's return game, the Dallas Mavericks are looking to turn a new chapter on this season. While the team is still finding its footing in the early season, they have had their fair share of clutch time woes that have cost the team multiple games.
During Tuesday night's game, the Mavericks had a seven-point lead with under four minutes remaining. Unfortunately, the team went static on both ends of the floor, resulting in a Golden State comeback and an eventual lead they wouldn't give up with seconds to go in the contest.
Early season struggles aren't anything new for the Mavericks but with a team that has pushed all their chips in to win an NBA Finals in the coming season, it has begun to make fans ring the alarm bells.
Something needs to change for the Mavericks and it could be as simple as making a few tweaks late in the fourth quarter and unveiling a new City Edition jersey to get the buzz back in Dallas.
Mavericks reveal beautiful white City Edition jerseys
City Edition jerseys have been a staple within the NBA for multiple seasons now. It's a way for teams to get creative and for players to wear unique jerseys.
While the Mavericks aren't strangers to horrible City Edition jerseys after their 2018-19 disaster of a jersey that was highlighted by a graffiti look that instantly became the laughingstock of the league, the team has released some good-looking jerseys in the past few seasons.
Last year's "Trinity River Blues" City Edition jerseys may go down in history as one of the team's best after their run to the NBA Finals, but this year's all-white look could be even flashier.
It has long been rumored that the team would bring back the same look of last year's City Edition jerseys and that's exactly what the Mavericks did except with a new color twist.
This season's City Edition jerseys will feature a white and silver look and a black longhorn to pay homage to Fort Worth and its stockyard history.
In addition to the fresh jerseys, the team has released its court concept which will go hand-in-hand with the Mavericks' new icy jerseys. The court will feature the same white and gray colorway with a fluorescent look that runs down the middle of the court.
Last year's City Edition jerseys became synonymous with the team's run to the Finals, which made them iconic. While the Mavericks have the same goal of returning to the championship, the team hopes that these jerseys will have the same success as last season's black and blue look.
Unveiling this year's City Edition jerseys at the right time could be the jolt of energy the team needs to get their season back on track. The Mavericks are expected to wear these jerseys for the first time this Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs.
