Anthony Davis trade rumors have been spreading like wildfire over the last week, and Josh Eberley of The Sporting News just dropped the perfect three-team trade that the Dallas Mavericks should be all over. Many Mavericks fans are ready to see Davis get moved, and a deal like this may be too valuable for Patrick Dumont to say no.

Davis' time in Dallas has been an absolute failure, as injuries have taken over his short stint with the Mavericks, and Nico Harrison's decision to trade Luka Doncic for him will go down as one of the worst moves in sports history. The Mavericks already seem more than willing to get out of the Anthony Davis business if the right deal presents itself, and Dallas would need to call in this trade immediately if it gets offered to them.

The Atlanta Hawks seem like the most likely destination for Davis, and with them shopping Trae Young, a third team needs to get involved. Dallas has no interest in acquiring Young, and this is where the Toronto Raptors come into the picture.

Mavericks enter the Flagg era in style with this Anthony Davis trade

In this proposal, the Mavericks trade Davis to the Hawks and land Kristaps Porzingis, Ochai Agbaji, Zaccharie Risacher, and two first-round picks in return. While the players that Dallas gets back are mostly about creating future cap flexibility with the expiring contracts of Agbaji and Porzingis, a flier on Risacher may be worth the risk of moving on from Davis.

Risacher still has tons of room to grow, and the Mavericks need more young players to build a promising core around Cooper Flagg. He has had plenty of promising moments throughout the first two years of his career, including a 38-point outburst last season, and Dallas may have the secret recipe to unlock him alongside Flagg.

He has the potential to be a high-level starter at the very least, and that's all the Mavericks would need out of him.

Risacher would headline Dallas' young foundation with Flagg, Max Christie, Dereck Lively II, and Ryan Nembhard, but the draft capital for this summer's draft is likely the most appealing part of this deal. The Mavericks own their 2026 first-round pick, and adding two more draft picks to this group would give Jason Kidd plenty of pieces to work with as he looks to get started on the right track as the team begins the Cooper Flagg era next season.

The Mavericks would net the Raptors' first-round pick in this deal (likely in the late teens or early 20s) as well as the rights to the Hawks' first-round pick, which will likely end up being a pick swap from the Cleveland Cavaliers (likely in the late teens). Dallas would have the opportunity to have multiple picks in the top 20 of next summer's draft if they were to agree to such a deal, and this is the type of compensation that would make Mavericks fans feel good about moving on from Davis.

Many Mavericks fans want the team to trade Davis for the first offer that comes to the table, but such a strategy is a disaster waiting to happen. Dallas gave up Luka Doncic to bring Davis to Big D, and they need to take the best offer possible rather than rushing a trade.

This could require them to wait until the offseason to move on, but it seems like the rumors about him going to the Hawks are getting real. The fact that the actual parameters of a trade between the two teams got leaked is notable, and Anthony Davis could find himself in a Hawks jersey before we know it.

The Mavericks have to be extra cautious before making any trade that will shake up their future, but this type of move is completely worth it to enter a rebuild. Dallas would have three chances in the first round of this summer's draft to land Cooper Flagg a co-star, and that should be priority No. 1 moving forward.

This is Flagg's team now, and this mock trade between Dallas, Atlanta, and Toronto would further guarantee that. The Mavericks would have a plethora of assets to enter the new era with, and this would finally flip the page from the failed Anthony Davis experiment.
