News just getting worse when it comes to Anthony Davis, as a left-hand injury just derailed his future with the Dallas Mavericks. Despite avoiding surgery, he is still going to be out for the next six weeks. Davis missing extended time is something fans are tired of hearing, and it's clear that a trade is needed to erase the black cloud that is lingering over Dallas.

Remember, Davis was traded to Dallas last year in hopes of improving the team's defense and helping them win the NBA Finals as soon as possible. In simple terms, former general manager Nico Harrison believed that defense wins championships.

His philosophy, though, was clearly outdated, as NBA teams have shifted from a defensive mindset to high-scoring offenses. Not to mention, Davis has missed so much time that Mavs fans never got accustomed to seeing his true potential.

Harrison's plan went south in a hurry with injuries and failures at every corner. He pulled off the most diabolical trade in NBA history, and this is something Davis will always be tied to. It's unfortunately why fans will never embrace Davis as they did Luka Doncic.

Anthony Davis was never meant to be a Maverick

Doncic is currently a top-five player in the NBA. During his time in Dallas, he developed into someone who won multiple accolades every season. Fans adored him. They praised his miraculous skills. It was expected that Doncic would be in Dallas for his entire career, and eventually, he would lead the city to another title. It makes sense why fans were heartbroken when he was traded.

On the other hand, the city hasn't developed a connection to Davis. It makes it hard for a fanbase to develop a connection when you are constantly injured, and every time that he begins to play well, he gets injured again.

Davis' injury history and inability to stay on the court are more than enough reasons why Dallas needs to trade their star big man. Again, his ties to Doncic and injury history make it complicated for him to woo the franchise and its loyal fanbase.

Not to mention, the Mavs have already made their stance clear when it comes to trading Davis. Right after firing Harrison, the team began entertaining trade talks for Davis. Multiple teams have already been connected to Davis, including the Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks.

This is good news for Dallas, as teams have not fallen out of the Davis trade market. It was suspected that his recent hand injury would scare teams away from him. However, it was reported that the Mavs have renewed trade talks with multiple teams over the last few days, especially with teams in playoff contention.

Davis could be ready by playoff time, and he could be the piece that takes a team from a pretender to a contender.

It's expected that multiple teams could use his presence down the stretch, but his value is likely going to be much lower than before. Technically, Dallas could trade him for future draft picks and expiring contracts. A trade would be a win for both sides, as the Mavs could start building around Cooper Flagg. Plus, a move would allow Davis to be on a contending team while pushing for the contract extension he desires during the offseason.

All signs point toward Davis getting traded, and it seems like Rich Paul, Davis' agent, is on board with this as well. It's a move even Anthony Davis likely knows is coming, as he understands there is no future for him in Dallas.

It seems fans are ready to move past the Luka Doncic trade and fully focus on a future around Cooper Flagg, and the only way they can do this is by trading Anthony Davis. He was a failed experiment since his first game in Dallas, and his journey with the Mavericks is a reminder of the mess Nico Harrison left behind. Fans are ready to get rid of the drama, and trading Davis is the exact way that the city of Dallas and its fans can move on.
