After losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Dallas Mavericks have officially lost four games in a row with little hope going into the nightmare stretch of games over the next few weeks. The team is not only battling a slew of injuries and Illnesses to key players, but Luka Doncic will be out until about the next month with a calf strain.

Without Doncic in the lineup, Dallas has struggled to find an identity on either end of the floor. They haven't only dropped multiple games in a row, but Friday night's loss to Cleveland marks the third straight double-digit loss.

Considering the Mavericks' upcoming three-game schedule, the team could very well end up in a seven-game pit before they realize it. Not only has health become the statement of the season, but Dallas head coach Jason Kidd reinstated this when he answered what his New Year's resolution would be in a recent interview.

Since the beginning of the season, the Mavericks have been battling adversity as their whole roster has virtually gone down with an injury or illness at some point. To make matters worse, the NBA season isn't even halfway done, and Dallas has experienced more injuries than many teams experience throughout a full season.

Kidd's New Year's resolution for the team is 'health' for good reason

Veterans and young players have almost all faced some sort of injury or illness this season which is a large reason for Dallas' recent skid over the last week. Similarly to Doncic's career struggle, the Mavericks must maintain staying healthy and in shape despite the team's recent skid and Kidd understands this better than anyone after his recent New Year's resolution statement went viral.

Kidd took to the media to reveal that "health" was his New Year's resolution for the Mavericks. While this may make some fans laugh, health has been a scarce sight in the Dallas locker room.

After dropping 26 points and proving he could be a potential starting lineup candidate on Friday night, Quentin Grimes described the illness that has been passed around the Dallas locker room over the last month.

"I couldn't even get out of bed, it ran through the whole team," Grimes said. "I ain't ever seen nothing like it, even in high school, college, everybody getting sick."

Grimes would later go on to say that for him it was a stomach bug and that he couldn't hold anything down for a few days. To make matters worse, the illness has also run rampant through Dallas' coaching staff.

While it may seem like the Mavericks have very little hope for the near future considering injuries and their upcoming schedule, the team will get a much-needed player back from suspension in Naji Marshall on Monday.

Marshall may not be the final answer fans are wanting but he will give Dallas better odds at staying afloat over the next month.

Moving forward, Dallas will need to make it a priority to stay healthy and available at all times once the team returns from injury and their scary locker room illness. Over the next month, the Mavericks may truly get a taste of just how good of a coach Kidd can be moving forward.
