Where will Dallas Mavericks free agent J.J. Redick sign?
The Mavs traded for J.J. Redick at the deadline. They dreamed of his shooting vaulting their offense back to the top of the league as the team made a deep playoff run. At the time of the trade, Redick was slowed by a lower leg injury. He returned in April only to suffer a season-ending setback in May. Redick missed the entire playoffs and is still not healthy. He has discussed his injury on his podcast, The Old Man and the Three.
The 37-year-old could retire, but if he keeps playing, there will be a robust market for his services. Players that can consistently shoot 40-plus percent from 3-point range are hard to find. Veteran ones with NBA Finals experience become even more difficult. Every contending team would love to add a healthy J.J. Redick to their roster.
Prediction: J.J. Redick leaves Dallas Mavericks and signs with Brooklyn Nets
Following the trade to Dallas, Redick discussed his desire to play in the northeast to be close to his family. The veteran wing is an unrestricted free agent this offseason and figures to have his pick of suitors. J.J. Redick decides to chase a championship with the Brooklyn Nets, so he can also be close to his loved ones.
