The Dallas Mavericks are hoping to be a major player in the free-agent market this year. They traded Josh Richardson to the Celtics on July 30 to create additional cap space. The Mavs are rumored to be eyeing Kyle Lowry and re-signing Tim Hardaway Jr. as they look to improve their roster around Luka Doncic.
Dallas will not be done there. They will likely need to sign six players to round out their roster. There is mutual interest in Boban Marjanovic returning to fill the team’s third center role. The Mavericks will also have decisions to make on Tyler Bey and Nate Hinton. They would love to round out their roster with veterans as Dallas looks to jump into title contention.
Rumors: Dallas Mavericks in the driver’s seat to sign Sterling Brown
Fischer notes the Mavs are “considered the favorite by league sources” to sign Brown. The 26-year-old player for SMU. Dallas is prioritizing shooting, defense, length, and athleticism on the wings. Brown offers that. The 6’5 wing averaged 8.2 points and 4.4 rebounds in 24.1 minutes per game last season. He shot 42.3 percent from 3-point range and could be the underrated marksman the Mavs crave.
