The Dallas Mavericks are hoping to be a major player in the free-agent market this year. They traded Josh Richardson to the Celtics on July 30 to create additional cap space. The Mavs are rumored to be eyeing Kyle Lowry and re-signing Tim Hardaway Jr. as they look to improve their roster around Luka Doncic.

Dallas will not be done there. They will likely need to sign six players to round out their roster. There is mutual interest in Boban Marjanovic returning to fill the team’s third center role. Fischer notes the Mavs are “considered the favorite by league sources” to sign Brown. The 26-year-old player for SMU. Dallas is prioritizing shooting, defense, length, and athleticism on the wings. Brown offers that. The 6’5 wing averaged 8.2 points and 4.4 rebounds in 24.1 minutes per game last season. He shot 42.3 percent from 3-point range and could be the underrated marksman the Mavs crave. Sterling Brown figures to be a bench option in Dallas.

Fischer also noted the Mavs as one of three teams making Kyle Lowry their top target. The Pelicans and Heat figure to be their biggest rivals. He has Dallas pursuing Richaun Holmes, John Collins, and Kelly Oubre Jr. too.

Another new rumor was the Mavericks are expecting to have interest in Bryn Forbes. He notes Dallas as one of four teams that are anticipating pursuing the veteran guard.
