The Dallas Mavericks drafted Josh Green with the 18th overall pick in 2020. He struggled to find playing time as a rookie earning just 445 minutes for the season. The 6’5 wing showed flashes, but fans were left wanting more.

The 20-year-old was selected to be part of the Australian Olympic Team. They qualified by finishing fourth in the 2019 FIBA World Cup. Green is the youngest player on their roster that is expecting to compete for a medal in Tokyo. The 6’5 wing received minimal playing time during their exhibition slate, but he did have 11 points and three steals versus Nigeria.

Green and Australia are in Group B in the Olympics. They face Nigeria, Germany, and Italy in their first three games. The top two teams in each group automatically advance to the knockout phase with the two best third-place teams rounding out the quarterfinals. Here is a look at Australia’s full schedule.

The Boomers will be favored to win Group B. Dallas Mavericks fans will have to get up extremely early or stay up incredibly late to catch Green and Australia’s games in the Olympics. The 20-year-old will not play much in Tokyo. He will be an end-of-the-bench option reserved for changing the pace and blowouts.

Australia will be among the favorites to take home an Olympic medal. Josh Green’s Dallas Mavericks teammate Luka Doncic figures to have plenty to say about that. They are only two Mavs playing in Tokyo. Fans should check out the games, and stay tuned to The Smoking Cuban for all the latest offseason news, rumors, and analysis on the Dallas Mavericks.
