Kawhi Leonard injury increases the odds the Dallas Mavericks sign him this summer

Leonard was injured in the 2017 playoffs and missed the Spurs final three games. He played only nine games the following season dealing with a quad injury. Kawhi forced his way out of San Antonio in the 2017 offseason, and his injury had plenty to do with it.

With Leonard out with another significant injury, does that push him away from the Clippers? The odds of Kawhi leaving Los Angeles were not high just two weeks ago. This injury shifts them slightly. The noise of Kawhi’s unhappiness with the Clippers medical staff gets louder now that is set to miss six-plus months recovering.

Every team in the league wants Kawhi Leonard, even coming off an ACL surgery. The 30-year-old superstar has his pick of teams this summer. He can make the most money by staying with the Clippers because he can opt-in and sign a four-year extension worth $181.5 million. That is a lot of reasons to stay home in Los Angeles.

Nobody knows what Kawhi is going to do this summer. The odds of the Dallas Mavericks acquiring him just went up, though. They are likely somewhere around ten percent to secure his services, but things could change quickly.
