The Dallas Mavericks changed head coaches this offseason. Rick Carlisle resigned after 13 seasons at the helm. He won a championship with the Mavs in 2011 and is arguably the best coach in franchise history. The Mavericks moved quickly to hire Jason Kidd. The Hall of Fame point guard is the tenth head coach in team history.

Many fans viewed assistant Jamahl Mosley as the favorite to get the job when Carlisle resigned because he has an extremely close relationship with superstar Luka Doncic. Mosley has been with the Mavericks since 2014, and he worked his way up to be Carlisle’s top assistant. Dallas decided on Kidd over Mosley, which puts the latter’s future with the Mavs in serious doubt.

Jamahl Mosley could be a head coach next season. Fans know he interviewed for openings in Washington and Orlando. Here is the latest on both searches from Adrian Wojnarowski.

Woj let fans know the latest on the Washington Wizards coaching search on Monday afternoon.

He also noted that Mosley is a “serious head coaching candidate for the Orlando Magic job”. The 42-year-old could fill one of those openings. It appears unlikely Mosley will remain in Dallas either way. He will have no issues latching on with another team because of his work ethic and relationships with players.

Mosley will be coaching the USA Select Team this summer. He is one of two assistants under Eric Spoelstra. The trio will not make the trip to Tokyo for the Olympics, but they are in charge of the group that will help the Senior Team prepare. It is a massive honor of Mosley.

Jamahl Mosley deserves to be a head coach in the NBA. Hopefully, he is chosen by the Wizards or Magic to be their next man in charge. The 42-year-old is ready for the opportunity and figures to have plenty of success.

The Dallas Mavericks have an important offseason ahead. Keep it locked to The Smoking Cuban for all the latest this summer.
