Dallas Mavericks: 5 Kristaps Porzingis trades to consider this offseason

Kristaps Porzingis trade the Dallas Mavericks could pull off: 2. McCollum for KP
The Portland Trail Blazers are going to shake up their roster this offseason after losing in the first round of the playoffs for the fourth time in the last five years. They have already fired head coach Terry Stotts. The Blazers want to compete for a title, and keeping Damian Lillard in Portland could depend on the moves they make this offseason.
Would they be willing to swap second stars with the Dallas Mavericks? McCollum has three years and $100 million left on his deal. John Hollinger of The Athletic noted (subscription required) that other teams see the 29-year-old as having “slightly negative value” in a trade. The Mavs still may have to add a second-round pick to entice the Blazers.
McCollum is a 6’3 guard that is an elite shooter and scorer. He would give Dallas someone that can lighten the workload of Luka Doncic and space the floor next to him. The Mavericks would need to upgrade the defense around them, including adding a rim protector, but it gives them one of the league’s best offensive backcourts.
Portland adds the Unicorn as a floor-spacing big man for Damian Lillard. They would be hoping that KP’s rim protection returns. It would also open up a backcourt spot for the Blazers to add more defense next to Lillard. It is a challenge trade at its finest.
