The Dallas Mavericks won their third straight game in Los Angeles behind a 42-point performance from superstar Luka Doncic to go up 3-2 in their first-round series against the LA Clippers. Doncic was incredible in Game 5, including breaking multiple records. The 22-year-old is unstoppable in the postseason.

It was not an isolated game for Luka. Through five games in the series, the 6’7 guard is averaging 35.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 9.4 assists, and 1.0 steal on 47.9 percent shooting from the field and 42.9 percent on his threes. Those stars are incredible but are taken to another level when considering the massive workload and attention Doncic takes on. He has been from a different planet in this series as he has the Mavericks on the verge of the upset.

Luka continues to prove to the rest of the NBA that no team wants to face his squad in the playoffs moving forward. The 22-year-old is displaying his ability to elevate his game to another level when it matters most. That should be scary for his competition.

More. Why Luka Doncic deserves to be first-team All-NBA

No team wants to face Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs

Doncic stood out in his first NBA playoff experience inside the bubble. He averaged 31.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 1.2 steals on 50.0 percent shooting from the field as the Mavericks were eliminated by the Clippers in six games in the first round. LA improved this offseason, but Dallas is on the verge of the upset because Luka has taken a massive leap.

The 22-year-old has added an unstoppable mid-range game to his tool set this year. He is 13 of 26 in the first five games from that area. Even the league’s best defenders have no answer for it. Doncic gets to his spot and hits the jumper. See him drill one over Paul George below.

Luka has also taken a massive leap in his outside shooting. The Mavericks superstar is 24 of 56 3-point range in the series, and he is getting no easy looks. LA continues to throw multiple options and their top defenders at Doncic, but it does not matter. They have no way of stopping him. Luka is an elite scorer and playmaker, but improved jumper has taken his game to another level and made the Dallas Mavericks a nightmare matchup for any opponent in the postseason.

The scary part for the rest of the league is how quickly Luka Doncic keeps improving. He has arguably been the best player in the playoffs. The Mavs superstar is an unstoppable offensive force that has taken strides on the defensive end. He will keep adding to his game every year, and Dallas will keep getting more and more difficult to top.

Dallas Mavericks fans should be excited about the present and future of the team. The roster around Luka Doncic will keep improving as their superstar does. Supporters should be thankful for the 22-year-old. He is proving to be one of the NBA’s best, regardless of the situation. Stay tuned to see what magic Doncic can pull off next.
