No. The Mavs do not have a better option to play than Kristaps Porzingis if they are going to upset the LA Clippers.

They won the first two games behind incredible performances from Luka Doncic with the role players offering support. Dallas has not gotten enough help in the last two games. They are unlikely to stop LA, but the Mavericks have one of the best offenses in the league. Their best chance is to outscore the Clippers, and Kristaps Porzingis needs to be better to make that happen.

KP’s defensive struggles should be part of a larger offseason conversation for the Dallas Mavericks. Luka is a top-five player in the NBA. They want to jump into title contention immediately. Dallas has cap space this summer and a shot to upgrade their roster. The defense must be better. The Mavericks have to find a way to play better with Kristaps Porzingis on the floor when teams go small if they want to contend.

Game 5 could swing the series back in the Dallas Mavericks’ favor. The Clippers lost the first two games at home as things head back to the Staples Center.
