He was far from the only Maverick that went off. Tim Hardaway Jr. had 28 points, including a clutch 3-pointer to help Dallas ice the game. Kristaps Porzingis chipped in 20 to lift the Mavs to a two-game advantage in the series.

It was Luka who stole the show, though. Here is a closer look at his unbelievable performance in Game 2 to lift the Mavericks to their second straight victory over the Clippers.

Luka Doncic goes off as Dallas Mavericks defeat Clippers in Game 2

Luka got to the rim and threw down a dunk in the first quarter. See the rare Doncic slam below.

Both teams started red hot in the first quarter. Doncic had nine points, but he was Dallas’ third-leading scorer in the quarter. Maxi Kleber started five of five from the field and had 12 points. Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in ten, but Kawhi Leonard countered with 18 in the opening quarter to keep the Mavericks’ advantage at two after the first 12 minutes.

Things did not slow down in the second quarter. Luka had 23 points in the first half on nine of 13 shooting from the field, but Kawhi had 30 to put the Clippers by two at the break. It was the first quarter where LA outscored the Mavs in the series. Doncic set a new career-high for points in a half in a playoff game.

Luka hit Dirk Nowitzki’s signature shot over Kawhi Leonard in the third quarter with the Mavericks GOAT in the building at the Staples Center. See the beautiful make below.

Dallas picked up the defense in the third quarter as they held the Clippers to 19 points. Luka had 12 points, including this incredible Dirk-esque one-legged 3-pointer to push the Mavs out to a nine-point advantage heading into the fourth.

Dallas pushed the lead to 14 in the fourth quarter, but the Clippers fought back in a game they needed to win. Luka was not going to let the Mavs lose, though. The 22-year-old superstar finished with 39 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and one block in Game 2. He was 16 of 29 from the field as Doncic channeled Mavericks GOAT Dirk Nowitzki to lift his team to a 2-0 advantage in the series.

The Mavericks must shoot better from the free-throw line. They missed 11 in Game 2, and it was their best players failing to convert. Luka was two of seven from the foul line. Tim Hardaway Jr. missed four, but it did not matter as the Mavs sealed the victory with four clutch free throws by Josh Richardson.

The two teams head to Texas for Game 3 on Friday evening. The Dallas Mavericks have a chance to finish the series on their home floor. They will be looking to take a commanding lead with a win on May 28. Expect another monster performance from Luka Doncic in Game 3. Do not miss it.
