Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic makes history in win over Cavaliers

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 110-90 in a historic night for Luka Doncic on Friday evening. The victory keeps the Mavs in fifth in the Western Conference. They are one game up on sixth and two ahead of seventh. Only the top six advance directly to the playoffs this season, so expect Dallas to fight hard to hold their position over the final five regular-season games.
Tim Hardaway Jr. and Josh Richardson both had outstanding games against the Cavaliers. THJ stayed red hot as he scored 20 points in 28 minutes on seven of 14 shooting from the field. Richardson was wreaking havoc on both ends. He had 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block in his 28 minutes on Friday.

Luka wasted no time on Friday night. He had seven points in the first four minutes of the game. Doncic led the Mavs to a 14-point lead at the end of the first quarter as they looked to put Cleveland away early.
The most impressive shot came from Trey Burke. He drilled this half-court buzzer-beater to close the opening stanza.
The Mavericks kept building the advantage in the second period. Luka had 18 first-half points as Dallas grabbed a 25-point lead over the short-handed Cavaliers. He even pulled out a little magic on Friday night.
The Mavs closed the show in the third quarter. They gave their starters some much-needed rest in the fourth as they walked away with the dominating home victory.
Luka finished with 24 points, eight rebounds, one assist, and one block in just 23 minutes of action on May 7. He was eight of 17 from the field as the Mavericks outscored Cleveland by seven with Doncic on the floor. The 22-year-old superstar had been struggling from the free throw but was a percent seven for seven on Friday evening.

Doncic is incredible. He puts on a show every night and has the Mavericks playing their best basketball at the right time. They have won nine of their last 11 to keep them out of the play-in tournament. Expect plenty more incredible feats to come from the 22-year-old superstar.
The Dallas Mavericks are back in action on Sunday in Cleveland against the Cavaliers. It is the rare home and home set this season.
