Dallas Mavericks: 3 Mavs that have failed to meet expectations
By Tyler Watts
Dallas Mavericks player that has failed to meet expectations: 2. Josh Green
Many expected the Mavs to trade their first-round pick for a veteran that could help them win now on draft night 2020. Instead, Dallas held onto it and chose Josh Green at 18th overall. They loved his defensive tools and transition game.
Fans have seen little production from the rookie. Green has played a total of 332 minutes this season. He averages just 2.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 10.5 minutes per contest. The biggest disappointment has been his jumper. The 6’5 wing is just three of 20 from 3-point range over his 32 games played.
Josh Green has failed to meet expectations and dug a hole to climb out of to earn minutes going forward. The Dallas Mavericks want a roll man and three floor spacers around Luka Doncic. Green’s lack of attempts from 3-point range and his poor percentage put his future role with the team in question.
All four Mavericks rookies could go on this list. Tyrell Terry, Tyler Bey, and Nate Hinton have barely played and not stood out when given the chance. All four are still young and have time to develop, but do not expect to see them in Dallas’ rotation any time soon.
