Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle does not see significant trade at deadline
By Tyler Watts
The Dallas Mavericks have been at the heart of plenty of trade rumors leading up to Thursday’s deadline. They got off to a rough start, and despite winning 13 of their last 18 games, still sit eighth in the Western Conference. Will Dallas make a massive move ahead of the March 25 trade deadline?
Owner Mark Cuban shared his thoughts on the team’s plans last week. He noted his preference of continuity unless the Mavericks can acquire a third star player. Does that mean Dallas will not upgrade their roster?
Coach Rick Carlisle was asked about his thoughts on the team’s trade deadline plans during his media session on March 23. Let us take a closer look at what he had to say and what it means ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

Brad Townsend shared Carlisle’s quote for Mavs fans on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.
Carlisle is right to be a fan of his current team. The Mavericks have only had their preferred starting five for 14 of their 41 games this season. They won ten of those 14 including victories over the Trail Blazers, Nets, Nuggets, and Warriors. Luka Doncic has their offense performing at an elite level, and no team is looking forward to facing a healthy Mavs squad in the postseason.
Fans should not rule out Dallas upgrading their roster. The rumors are coming from somewhere. GM Donnie Nelson may just be discussing deals, but do not be surprised to see the Mavericks make at least one move before Thursday’s deadline. The Mavs want to make a deep playoff run and maximizing their roster could be the key to accomplishing that goal.
Stay tuned because it could be a wild couple of days. Expect plenty more rumors and multiple trades as teams attempt to sure up their roster ahead of the stretch run. Do not miss a second of the action.
