The Dallas Mavericks are putting their rough start behind them. They won nine of their final 11 games heading into the All-Star break to climb to eighth in the Western Conference. The Mavs defense is still a work in progress, but the team’s historic offense from last season has returned. They are scoring an outstanding 117.7 points per 100 possessions during their hot streak. Expect Dallas to keep improving in the second half.

The rumor mill is heating up ahead of the March 25 trade deadline. The Mavs have been plenty active, including potentially shopping Kristaps Porzingis. There is no question that Dallas wants to improve their roster before the deadline, but do not expect KP to be moved in any deal.

Love is an interesting trade target for any team. The 32-year-old is a five-time All-Star. He won a ring with the Cavaliers in 2016 and has played in three NBA Finals. Love also has a significant injury history that may be catching up to him. He has not played more than 60 regular-season games since 2016. The Mavs would love to add a 6’8 floor spacer with championship experience, but he needs to be on the floor to help them win.
