The Dallas Mavericks are not off to the start fans expected. They only have 13 wins and sit tenth in the Western Conference. Superstar Luka Doncic is setting new career-highs in nearly every statistical category, but the roster around him has struggled to stay healthy and perform. The Mavs have the potential of an elite team, but they have not proved it on the court yet.

Doncic received a massive honor on Feb. 19 as he was named an All-Star starter for the second consecutive year. Luka is only the third Maverick to ever start in an All-Star game. The 21-year-old tied with Damian Lillard for the second starting spot in the Western Conference but took the tie-breaking fan vote. Lillard has been spectacular, but Doncic is a deserving starter.

Luka was appreciative of his place in the All-Star game. He took to Instagram to thank the fans who helped him get there on Friday. Let us take a closer look.

Doncic showed his appreciation for the fans that helped him earn his second All-Star start.

The 21-year-old is one pace to go down as an all-time great. Only six players in NBA history have started multiple All-Star games at 22 or younger including Luka. The Mavericks superstar continues to put himself among elite company.

Doncic will return to the MVP race if Dallas can get their season turned around. The Mavs won five of their last seven games before severe weather in Texas forced both of their games to be postponed this week. Do not count out Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. They will be in the thick of the playoff race by the end of the regular season.
