The Dallas Mavericks drafted Tyrell Terry with the 31st overall pick in 2020. The 20-year-old was one of the best shooters in the NCAA last season. He profiled as a high IQ player that was dedicated to his craft.

Playing time has been difficult to come by for the rookie. Terry played a total of 56 minutes in the Mavs’ first 23 games. The organization knows he needs time on the court to develop, so they sent him to the G League bubble. Terry will play for the Memphis Hustle because the Texas Legends opted out of the season. His Mavericks teammates Tyler Bey and Nate Hinton were assigned to the Long Island Nets.

What should fans expect from Terry in the G League bubble? Is there something worth watching in his first chance at extended run? Let us take a closer look.

What should Dallas Mavericks fans expect from Tyrell Terry in the G League bubble?

Terry was an outstanding floor spacer in the NCAA. Expect him to knock down shots when given minutes. He was an efficient scorer that can play on or off the ball. It will be interesting to see how the Hustle uses him in Orlando.

Fans should be watching his defense and playmaking. Many draft experts predicted Terry’s best role would be playing off the ball. The 6’2 guard needs to prove he can be the lead playmaker for a team. Terry was a plus-rebounder and created turnovers at Stanford, but his defense is a question mark. Can he match up against professional point guards and hold his own? Keep an eye out during his stint in the G League bubble.

Tyrell Terry went on a flex assignment meaning the Dallas Mavericks can recall him if needed. They want to get him minutes and time to develop. Stay tuned to see how Terry performs in Orlando.
