Takeaway from Dallas Mavericks win over Pacers: 4. Green has best game of young career
The move to playing small opened up a spot to start Josh Green, and the rookie delivered with the best game of his young career. He was limited to mop up duties before the Mavericks COVID issues sprung up. Green has been a key part of the rotation for six straight games, but Wednesday’s was his best. He finished with new career-highs in points (eight), rebounds (six), and assists (three) in his 22 minutes of action.
Green made a few smart cuts and Luka Doncic found him for easy scores in the second quarter. The rookie capped off his impressive run with a trick out of Dirk Nowitzki’s bag. See the beautiful jumper below.

One takeaway is the Mavericks are all adding this shot to their arsenal. Fans have seen Luka and Kristaps Porzingis both hit them on multiple occasions already. The legend changed the game.
Green’s production against the Pacers is something to build on. He may slip out of the nightly rotation when the Dallas Mavericks get healthy, but the rookie showed his potential. Expect coach Carlisle to be a bit quicker to go to Green moving forward. The rookie could grow into a starter during his prime. Keep an eye on his development.
