Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic named Western Conference Player of Week 3
Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has found his stride. The 21-year-old missed the first of a back-to-back against the Bulls on Jan. 3 before exploding for a 33-point triple-double against the Rockets. Doncic followed that with 38 points in Denver and his second triple-double of the season facing the Magic. The Mavs won all three games as their superstar got hot.
The three incredible performances earned Luka Western Conference Player of the Week honors. It is the second time in his NBA career that he has won this award. Doncic averaged a 30-point triple-double for the week and lead his team to three wins. Jayson Tatum won the honor in the Eastern Conference.
Should fans expect more going forward? Where does Doncic go from here? Let us take a closer look.
Should fans expect more honors from Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic?
Doncic won Western Conference Player of Week 5 last season, but that was his only victory. Fans should expect him to take home multiple honors this season. Luka is a walking triple-double and has not played his best basketball yet.
The return of Kristaps Porzingis will create more room for Doncic to operate. Expect the 21-year-old to routinely produce monster lines as he pushes the Mavericks back to the playoffs. Luka will be in the running for MVP. He needs to stay healthy and keep Dallas winning to take home the league’s top individual honor at the end of the season.
Congratulations go out to Luka Doncic on winning Player of the Week. The honor should not go unnoticed, but it was just the first step for the superstar this season. Expect him to keep getting better. The rest of the NBA should be on notice. Luka and the Dallas Mavericks are going to be a force this season. Do not miss it.
