Dallas Mavericks: What to watch for in game ten vs. Pelicans

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has had two triple-doubles in his last three games, plus a narrow miss in a 38-point performance against the Nuggets. He is catching fire, and so are the Mavs. Dallas is riding a three-game winning streak coming into Monday.

They host the New Orleans Pelicans on Jan. 11. Zion Williamson and company have lost three straight games, but the Mavericks are short-handed on Monday. It should be an exciting battle between two teams gunning for the playoffs.

Here is a look at how and what to watch for in the division showdown.

Dallas Mavericks vs. New Orleans Pelicans injury updates

The Mavericks will be without Josh Richardson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Jalen Brunson as all three players are in the league’s health and safety protocols. Maxi Kleber may also be added to that group. Shams Charania reported he was facing a quarantine, but Dallas listed him as questionable on the NBA’s official injury report. Fans should stay tuned for more on his status.

Kristaps Porzingis was also upgraded to questionable for the first time this season. More on that to come in a moment.

Steven Adams is the only Pelican on the injury report. He is listed as questionable with a migraine. Expect the big man to play on Monday night.

Dallas Mavericks vs. New Orleans Pelicans storyline to follow: KP’s debut?

Kristaps Porzingis appears set to make his season debut against the Pelicans. He has been practicing with the team since late December. The Unicorn is ready to go and figures to make a massive impact on both ends of the floor.

Do not expect him to play 30-plus minutes on Monday night. The Mavericks will likely ease him back into action. KP figures to be a bit rusty, but that does not mean he will not produce monster numbers.

Fans will not want to miss Monday’s game. Expect Luka Doncic to go off in Kristaps Porzingis’ return too. Stay tuned.
