Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic a fixture in annual GM survey
The GM’s surprisingly sided with Giannis Antetokounmpo to win his third straight MVP award. Doncic finished second receiving 21 percent of the vote. The two superstars tied for the top spot in the player to build your franchise around at 43 percent.
Those were far from the only two places Luka showed up. He was tied for fourth in the player that forces coaching adjustments, third in best point guard in the NBA, tied for second at shooting guard, and second in the top international player.
In a surprise, Luka finished third in the league’s best passer category behind LeBron James and Nikola Jokic. The Mavericks superstar should have been number one. Doncic also got the fourth most votes for the player GM’s want taking the shot with the game on the line.
The GMs predicted the Mavericks to finish fourth in the Western Conference and ranked coach Rick Carlisle second in making in-game adjustments. The Mavs coach earned top honors in the category in 2019 but slipped behind Erik Spoelstra after the Heat’s finals run inside the Orlando bubble.
