Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic unstoppable in third quarter of the second preseason game

The Dallas Mavericks faced the Milwaukee Bucks for the second time this preseason on Dec. 14. It is part of a new schedule quirk this season where teams will play twice in a row in some cities. Luka Doncic and the Mavs grabbed the opener, but Giannis Antetokounmpo had a game-high 25 for the Bucks.

Milwaukee won the battle of the starters in the first meeting. Luka produced some incredible plays, but the Mavs starting unit was outscored by nine points while they were on the floor. It was a point of emphasis for Dallas in the second meeting.

The Mavs offense started slow for the second straight game. They had just six points after the first five minutes of action but only trailed by two. Doncic was scoreless at that point. He quickly worked his way to the foul line and got going. See Luka’s only made field goal in the first quarter below.

The 21-year-old finished the stanza with seven points, four rebounds, and two assists, despite being one of four from the field.

The Mavericks rested him until 6:20 left in the second. He finished the quarter on the floor including making this lay-in off the Dwight Powell find.

Luka had 12 points, five rebounds, and two assists in 17 first-half minutes. He was just three of ten from the field and five of nine on his free throws.

The Mavericks trailed by ten at halftime but quickly made a comeback in the third quarter. Luka got going. He was getting into the paint and scoring, despite the Bucks elite defense. Check out this incredible drive and finish.

Doncic found both his 3-pointer and floater in the third quarter. It led to him scoring 15 in the period on six of ten from the field. Luka looked unstoppable as the Mavericks scored 36 in the third to grab a two-point lead heading into the fourth.

The Mavericks star did not return in the final period, but the team blitzed the Bucks to grab the win. Doncic finished the game with 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three turnovers in 29 minutes of action. He had another incredible third quarter, which was his best period a season ago. The Mavs outscored the Bucks by 18 when Luka was on the floor in the second preseason game.

Dallas Mavericks fans are in for an incredible year with Luka Doncic leading the charge. He continues to show off his special abilities this preseason.
