Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic favored to win MVP in ESPN executive survey

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic was installed as the betting favorite to win the 2021 MVP this offseason. He will be the youngest one in league history if he can pull off the feat. Fans do not need me to tell them that no player in the NBA can match his stat line or offensive gravity.

Winning the MVP is no small feat. Dirk Nowitzki only won once in his legendary career. He is the only Maverick to ever take home the award. There have been plenty of all-time greats that never won an MVP.

ESPN surveyed eight scouts and executives about the season ahead. Luka made the list on more than one occasion. Let us take a closer look.

Doncic received four of the eight first-place votes to win the MVP this season. Giannis Antetokounmpo has won two straight but earned just one vote in this survey. Nikola Jokic and Damian Lillard were the only other players to get at least one nod.

Execs were also asked who is the best player in the NBA. LeBron James earned seven of the eight votes with the Greek Freak getting the last one. One scout noted that he picked James, but Doncic is chasing. He said, “that dude is going to win multiple MVPs”.

Fans should read the entire survey. There is plenty of talk on the James Harden situation, plus a look at who the executives think will win the championship in 2021.

Luka Doncic is in for a special season. The 21-year-old could average a 30-point triple-double per game as he chases MVP honors and homecourt in the Western Conference. Luka will always prioritize the Dallas Mavericks getting wins. Fans should stay tuned for an exciting year that they will not want to miss.
