Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic tops FanSided’s 25 under 25 this year
Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic took an incredible leap last season. He was a finalist for Most Improved Player after winning Rookie of the Year. Doncic averaged 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game as he led the Mavs back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. The 21-year-old made first-team All-NBA and finished fourth in MVP voting.
Luka is an unquestioned star. Most are expecting another leap too. Doncic is the betting favorite to win MVP this season. There is no ceiling for the 21-year-old. He could be the best player in the league in his third year.
FanSided released their annual 25 under 25 this week. Let us take a look at where Luka ranked and why fans should have seen this coming.
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic tops FanSided’s 25 under 25
Doncic was the unquestioned top player in the countdown. There are six other All-Stars on the list, but none of them are garnering MVP votes. Jayson Tatum finished second followed by Devin Booker, Bam Adebayo, and Ben Simmons rounding out the top five.
Doncic sat third on the list last year, but the two players ahead of him were no longer eligible. Fans can read my case from one year ago on why Luka was going to top the countdown in 2020 here. His leap last season made it a no-brainer. Doncic will dominate this list for three more years too.
Dallas Mavericks fans should be excited about the season on the horizon. Luka Doncic should be in the thick of the MVP race as he leads the Mavs into the playoffs. The team will be pushing for homecourt in the first round. Expect the 21-year-old superstar to find a new level. Fans will not want to miss one moment of the action, so please stay tuned.
