Dallas Mavericks: Kristaps Porzingis is already getting up shots

The Dallas Mavericks may have upset the LA Clippers in the first round of the playoffs with a healthy Kristaps Porzingis. They were winning in the third quarter of Game 1 when he was ejected for his second technical foul. Dallas won Game 2 behind 23 points and seven rebounds from KP. The Unicorn followed it with a 34 and 13 performance as the Mavs lost after Luka Doncic injured his ankle in the second half. That turned out to be Porzinigs’ final game of the season.

He injured his knee in the playoff opener. The 25-year-old played through it for two straight, but things worsened before Game 4. KP tore his meniscus, which needed to be repaired in early October. The Mavericks have already ruled him out for the beginning of the 2020-2021 season.

The Unicorn got up shots at the team’s practice facility on Nov. 30. Let us take a look at the video, his reaction, and what it could mean moving forward.

Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis returns to shooting

The Mavs posted the following video on Sunday.

Every player is back in Dallas for the start of training camp on Tuesday. There will not be any team workouts until Dec. 6, but players need to begin testing.

Porzingis posted the same video on his social media captioned with his excitement about being back on the floor.

It is a positive sign that KP is already getting up shots, but fans should still expect the Dallas Mavericks to take a cautious approach with their star player. They have no incentive to rush him back. Porzingis will not see his first game action until January. Expect him to be brought back slowly with a minute’s limit at that point. The Mavs need the Unicorn healthy in the playoffs, and that will remain the focus.
